Happy April 26, World Intellectual Property Day!

Dear authors and innovators,

Our country joins the World Intellectual Property Organization and its motto for celebrating April 26, World Intellectual Property Day "Innovate for a Green Future".

In these days of pandemic, difficult times, the works of authors and innovators, the creations of the imagination and the enlightened human mind like books, movies, television, radio and the Internet have made our lives easier. But more than ever, humanity's attention has turned to innovators who, with their inventions, provide the cure for this global pandemic. So intellectual property is vital, our country needs a fully functional system of intellectual property, where authors and innovators are protected by their rights and supported to create and invent.

Kosovo has continued to take steps in the field of intellectual property, for copyright, we have continued with the creation of new policies and their implementation. MCYS, the Copyright Office is implementing the Strategy for Strengthening the Copyright System 2019-2023, its implementation will strongly influence the awareness and education of the society on the importance of copyright and the implementation of these rights in our country.

We are also working closely with the Collective Associations for Copyright Management, so that this year the authors, performers and producers can start receiving their compensation from the collective management. I have asked the Copyright Office to continue the good job with the Anti-Piracy Task Force in taking action against piracy.

All actions taken are a guarantee that copyright is advancing in our country. We continue to work together so that the authors and creators enjoy protection and economic benefits for their works.
