Gashi in front of the Parliamentary Commis-sion, Kosovo's participation in the European Creative Program is of special importance for the support of the cultural sector

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, participated today in the upcoming meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Technology, Culture, Youth, Sports, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

At this meeting, Minister Gashi proposed the approval of the Draft Law no. 06 / L-102 on Ratification of the Kosovo Participation Agreement in the Creative Europe Pro-gram.

The agreement on Kosovo's participation in the European Creative Program was signed on 05 June 2018 with the European Commissioner for Education, Science, Culture and Youth, Tibor Navracsis. The Minister announced that the same procedure was submitted for approval to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and was approved at the meeting of 31 July 2018.

Minister Gashi spoke about the content and importance of approving this draft law.

He said that "Kosovo's participation in this program is of particular importance as the support for the cultural and audiovisual sector from the program is in line with the priority policies of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in particular the Ministry of Culture, Youth and sports ".

"The Creative Europe Program contributes, inter alia, to the preservation of cultural and linguistic diversity, the promotion of sustainable and inclusive growth, the adaptation of cultural and creative sectors to the digital age, and the creation of new international opportunities, markets and audiences" , said Minister Gashi as well.

He assessed that this program will contribute to promoting cultural sector activities through cooperation projects. "As a result, participation in this pro-gram will enable cultural artists and professionals as well as thousands of creative organizations and publishers to work together and make their creative works available to millions of citizens," said Gashi.

Also, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi emphasized that "participa-tion within the program concerned will simultaneously contribute to capacity building in the cultural and creative sector by promoting the movement of cultural works and platforms and improving access to works cultural and in the strengthening of innovation and creativity in the field of culture. There will also be a special impact on cooperation aimed at boosting innovation, inter-country mobility and the exchange of best practices. "

The Minister also spoke about the engagement of the Minis-try in the establishment of the Kosovo Creative Office Kosovo-Office Culture, which has the mandate to provide information and promote the program, assisting the cultural and creative sec-tors.

Meanwhile, with regard to the annual financial cost that Kosovo has to pay to the EU's General Budget to participate in the Sub-Program on Culture and Inter-Sectoral Areas, the minister announced that it will be 35,000 euros. "This financial amount has been foreseen by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in its budget and the same will be processed to the EU under the Agree-ment", said Gashi.
