Kosovo, part of the European project for the Decade of Roma

Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Kujtim Shala, met today a delegation from the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) of the European Commission headed by Orhan Usein and Rada Krstanović, with whom he discussed about the position of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo, especially related to their advancement in Kosovo’s society.

At the meeting they discussed about the launch of the project of the European Union and the Open Society Foundation, the Decade of Roma, a project which will start on June 9 of this year and where for the first time Kosovo becomes part of this European project.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Shala presented the achievements and work done by the Steering Committee and the Kosovo institutions in the drafting of the new Strategy and Action Plan for the communities Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian 2016-2020.

Also, in this meeting they discussed the possibilities and modalities of co-financing activities and programs related to the new action plan for the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities between Kosovo institutions and international mechanisms, by also involving civil society in this process.
