The project on Strengthening the Intellectual Property Rights in Kosovo has been concluded

The project "Strengthening the System of Intellectual Property Rights in Kosovo (DPI)" which is funded by the EU, managed by European Union Office in Kosovo and implemented by the Consortium Pohl Consulting & Associates and Danish Office for Patent and Trade Marks, has been concluded.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Rexhep Hoti in his speech, said that the benefits of this project for the System of Intellectual Property Rights have been tangible in various fields.

Hoti said that assistance received from this project has positively influenced the preparation of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo in the implementation of intellectual property rights, the fulfillment of international and European obligations in this area, namely copyright and related rights.

"Especially after the signing and ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU, an agreement that requires better protection of copyright and other intellectual property rights, as well as the recommendation of the Executive Council of UNESCO, for the membership of Kosovo in this organization stressing the fact that it provides an important promotion of copyright and related rights, "said Hoti.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami said that this project was of great importance. Bajrami said that the project has been significant, especially in capacity building of staff.

She said that this year the project has been focused on the draft strategy for industrial property and together with MCYS will proceed with the request that this strategy to be sent to the Government of Kosovo.

Whereas Christof Stock, Head of cooperation in the EU Office in Kosovo praised the achievements of the project.

He said that so far there have been many positive achievements within the project but added that there is still work to be done.

Also the director of the Office of Copyright and Related Rights in the MCYS, Valon Kashtanjeva spoke about the importance and achievements of the project. He stressed that the legal infrastructure of copyright is harmonized with EU legislation.
