Political orientations of the MCYS are not to be determined by the agendas of media owners and intentional slander of journalists

19.08.2015

The newspaper "Zëri" has continued with slander against Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Shala. The article "Garda" on Minister Shala, published today in the daily "Zeri", with author Enis Veliu is one of subsequent defamations with the tendency to tarnish the image of Minister Shala.

After the slander of two days ago, for which MCYS addressed the Independent Media Council and Print Media Council for which a law suit will be submitted, and the reaction that "ZERI" has accompanied with a new defamation, allegedly as a clarification, the same journalist provides names of those engaged on the contract for special services with further slander by linking them to the above mentioned Minister. All those mentioned are civil servants that have been contracted by different sectors and related institutions, in accordance with the law. The claim that the procedures were not adhered to, is another slander from the reporter, Enis Veliu.

We also want to clarify that individual contracts are not employment contract by the nature, but are rather temporary engagements. And on that fact the newspaper has slandered as well.

MCYS will address the Independent Media Commission and the Print Media Council and will exercise right to submit charge for this slander and deliberate denigration.

MCYS wants to clarify that the policy orientations of MCYS will in no case be determined by the owners of the media and their agenda, or by the slander of journalists who serve to these agendas. Claims that are to be presented from each side are to be grounded and should try to achieve fair and normal way of functioning including media owners, managers and journalists.
