Deputy Prime Minister Shala welcomed the Chief of Council of Europe Office in Kosovo

In the meeting held today, in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports between Deputy Prime Minister Kujtim Shala and Mrs. Isabelle Servoz-Gallucci, it was discussed about the cooperation in relation with important issues in the field of culture. The need for supplementation of the legal framework was highlighted, as a precondition to prepare the infrastructure for the greater possible affirmation of culture, cultural heritage and sports.

Chief of the Council of Europe Office Mrs. Galluci, was interested in political objectives of MCYS, and also expressed her interest in the intensification of cooperation in specific fields, especially, in the cultivation of dialogue and cultural diversification, as important values of Kosovar society.

Deputy Prime Minister Shala welcomed Mrs. Galluci in Kosovo and wished her successful work in implementation of EC policies. Mr. Shala thanked her for the readiness to cooperate, and expressed himself ready to broaden the cooperation towards the accomplishment of objectives that the European Council in Kosovo and MCYS have.

Deputy Prime Minister Shala informed Mrs. Galluci on the supplementation of primary legislation, within the frame of the fulfilment of legal framework to achieve the political objectives of MCYS. He also informed her on drafting four important draft-laws, such as Draft Law on Heritage, Cinematography, Copyright and Related Rights and Draft Law on Sponsorship in Culture and Sports; these laws shall fulfil the legal framework to achieve the political objectives of the Ministry.

Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Shala informed the delegation from Council of Europe that MCYS is working intensively on four strategies: the strategy on culture, cultural heritage, youth and sports.

Mr. Shala emphasised that he is ready to further broaden the cooperation with CoE and, hereby, recognizing the need that Kosovo Institutions have for experts in the fields of legislation.

In her turn, Mrs. Galluci congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Shala for the work performed up-to-day and expressed the readiness of the Organisation she represents to support and assist MCYS in achieving its objectives. She said that Council of Europe Office is ready to help Kosovo in different fields, through expertise and support in other ways. She further added also the issue of minority communities, especially RAE community, as an issue upon which Kosovo should work more towards a greater integration of this community, and mentioned that the focus of CoE to support in this purpose is very high.
