Minister Krasniqi met heads of Croatian basketball club, Cibona

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Memli Krasniqi, hosted in a meeting today the delegation of “Cibona” basketball club from Zagreb of Croatia headed by the president of the club, Aleksandar Petrović, who are staying in Kosovo to play the friendly match with the club of the capital city “Sigal Prishtina” where it is also expected signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two clubs.

In this meeting present was also the chairmanship of the club of Sigal Prishtina chaired by its president, Blerand Stavileci.

Minister Krasniqi expressed his pleasure that a big club which has a long tradition such as Zagreb Cibona, will have a friendly match with a Kosovo basketball club and further stressed that it is on the interest of deepening the cooperation in the field of basketball not only in between these two clubs but beyond that.

“Cibona is undoubtedly one of the largest and the most successful clubs in Europe. This club has raised great world basketball players for years. Cibona has had and still has many fans in Kosovo, and knowing the success of this club, organisation and many other aspects, their coming to Kosovo and having a friendly match here is an honour to us”, minister said, further adding that Kosovo basketball is breaking through the international arena and that such matches contribute to increasing the quality of organisation and the match.

Amongst others he informed the Croatian guests related to developments in sports, and in particular about basketball, for the achievements, successes and challenges that Kosovo has had, especially in internationalisation, overcoming of which has begun.

On the other hand, the president of Cibona, Petrović, thanked the minister for hosting and the visit in Kosovo and for the match with Sigal Prishtina which he considered as a good experience, where cooperation will begin between both basketball clubs.

Whereas, the president of BC Sigal Prishtina, Blerand Stavileci called coming of Cibona to Prishtina as a visit of a great name of European basketball to the capital city, and this will help in advancing the club and of the basketball in our country too.

On the other hand, Croatian ambassador in Kosovo, Zoran Vodopija, emphasised that cooperation between the two countries, Kosovo and Croatia, is in level of mutual friendship and exchange of experiences also in the field of sports is beneficial for both countries.
