Remains of hero Isa Boletini – the reburial ceremony on November the 28th 2014

Today, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Memli Krasniqi, welcomed in a meeting the family of National Hero Isa Boletini, Mayor of Mitrovica Agim Bahtiri and also Arsim Gerxhaliu, Director of the Forensics Department within the Ministry of Justice.

In the meeting, it was presented that Forensics Department prepared a report signed by Director Arsim Gerxhaliu, according to which the remains brought in Kosovo in 1998 from Montenegro were proved to belong to hero Isa Boletini. Based on the report, the final analyses were assisted also by EULEX.

It is worth mentioning that MCYS supported earlier in financial means the accomplishment of DNA analyses of 8 remains in the Institute of Forensics in Skopje and in the institute of Forensics at the University of Strasburg.

According to the report compiled by the Forensics Department, from the 8 remains brought from Montenegro, one of them was verified to belong to Isa Boletini, and moreover, it was emphasized in the report that one of them belong to Jonuz Ahmet Boletini, whereas, the identity of 6 other remains could not be verified.

Minister Krasniqi said that after the meeting, since the Forensics Department verified that mortal remains are of Isa Boleini and that one of the remains belong to one his nephews, it shall be continued to the next stage.

“I express my gratitude to all institutions which worked until now in a professional manner to the finalization of this process, which had started three years ago. After the report presented by Mr. Gerxhaliu, we talked for the next stage of work that is the preparation of a dignified reburial ceremony of our hero Isa Boletini. Knowing the symbolic and as per demand of Isa Boletini’s family, it was decided that the ceremony shall take place on November 28th 2014”, said Minister Krasniqi, adding further that everything else that relates to the ceremony shall be decided at the beginning of the next week.

Moreover, he said that the image of Isa Boletini is nationwide and for the organization of the ceremony there should be coordination and interaction also with institutions of the Republic of Albania.

On the other hand, representative of the family of Isa Boletini, Gazmend Boletini, thanked Minister Krasniqi and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for their commitment presented in the whole process. He said that they will be engaged as a family for the reburial ceremony.
