Projects for construction of Olympic Palace Presented

As part of International Olympic Day, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports presented today before the public ten project-proposals in form of models for Olympic Palace, the building where Kosovo Olympic Committee, Paralympics Committee of Kosovo and Kosovo Sports Federation shall be located.

Minister Memli Krasniqi, President of Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC), Besim Hasani and heads of federations were present in the public presentation ceremony.

Minister Krasniqi having congratulated the athletes for the World Olympic Day emphasised that this day is special also for sport in Kosovo, as the opening of projects for construction of Kosovo Olympic Palace, of the sports house of Kosovo is taking place today.

“This is going to be a building that was missed by Kosovo sports in the past; it is a house of all federations, for Kosovo Olympic and Paralympics Committee. It is going to be an important institution of ours”, minister said.

He expressed the pleasure regarding this ambitious project, which has been as an idea since the beginning of mandate to be accomplished.

“I would like to congratulate Kosovo Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the sports federations for the great work they have carried out continuously, and this project is also in the range of joint works that we are doing, and it also is a gratitude to the work of those and all sportsmen of Kosovo”, minister said.

Whereas the president of KOC, Besim Hasani, estimated that it is a remarkable day, given that presentation of projects for Olympic Palace is taking place, because space is being created for the sports leaders in order to carry out their tasks and activities.

“This is a building which we have missed, and now it is the one that is getting realised, therefore, I sincerely want to thank the ministry for all these obligations that they have fulfilled towards athletes till now”, president of KOC Hasani said.

Designs in form of models shall be assessed by the professional jury composed of representatives of the ministry, those of KOC, Sports Journalists’ Association and from the public through voting. Citizens shall be able to vote for three best projects and 20% in the final assessment of the competing projects go for voting. 80% of assessment belongs to the Professional Jury. Public voting lasts 5 days, from today until Friday 15:00 hrs.

This building is an investment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, reaching an amount of 1.5 million Euro, planned to begin construction this year.
