The gallery of our well-known sculptor Agim Çavdarbasha is open again

After nine years, the gallery of well-known sculptor Agim Çavdarbasha is restored. The reopening ceremony was held today and many artists and representatives of local and international Institutions were present. The renovation of gallery started in year 2011, by an investment of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in amount of 100 thousand euro.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Memli Krasniqi said he is happy that the entire space where our sculptor Çavdarbasha developed his activity, a part of his creativity, is having the view it had once, before its burning in 2004.

“It was one of the assignments I have given to myself as the Minister that this gallery become as it was before and I am very happy that we managed it. I would like to thank the Foundation Agim Çavdarbasha for close cooperation provided to the MCYS by very carefully managing the restoration works”, he said, while assessing that this gallery is another asset of our cultural scene. The Minister added that friends and benevolent of arts in particular will have the opportunity to see the works of sculptor Agim Çavdarbasha, but more significantly, he said, this gallery will be the space where new generations will be able to learn more for our art, the creativity of the famous sculptor.

He said that the MCYS is working in order that also other galleries of our famous artists, painters and sculptors have the view they deserve so our citizens as well as friends from abroad see our genuine values.

The Minister declared that in the last two years Kosova has enriched the cultural calendar in the country and has promoted as never before its cultural scene in the most important events of culture in the world. “An example is exactly this meeting here, the opening of an Exhibition at the National Gallery of Kosova after an hour, and the new premier at the National Theater of Kosova. Also, tomorrow in the Gallery of the Ministry will open another exhibition, while today the Cinematography Centre of Kosova initiates the next presentation in Cannes Film Festival, and after a few days, on May 28th Kosova for the second time will be a part of Venice Biennale and for the first time will have its own pavilion at the International Contemporary Arts Exhibition. Numerous important events are expecting us inside and outside Kosova during the current year, which make us appreciate and promote our genuine values even more”, he said.

On the other hand, Sebahate Çavdarbasha, the wife of sculptor Agim Çavdarbasha said that the dream they dreamed for several years is brought into life and she thanked Minister Krasniqi for the regard and continuous support provided for full realization of restorations. Cavdarbasha said that the gallery will be open to artists and benevolent of arts.

One of the friends of sculptor Agim Çavdarbasha, the poet Eqrem Basha spoke for the creativity and personality of the famous sculptor, while esteeming him as a specific narration of culture in Kosova. Basha said that by gallery restoration, Institutions and society are showing regard towards creators who with a great passion have worked and left behind themselves a valuable cultural treasure.
