The regulation on the categorization of athletes and coaches has been approved

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Shala, has signed today the regulation which sets the criteria for categorizing athletes and coaches belonging to clubs that are members of national federations recognized by the Kosovo Olympic Committee and licensed by MCYS.

According to the regulation, the categorization of athletes and coaches will be based on the results achieved at the level of competitions such as the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships, Mediterranean Games and the Balkan Championships. Athletes will be categorized as Meritorious Athlete; World class and international class athlete.

Based on the category that the athlete enjoys on the basis of categorization, the same category in classification is also enjoyed by the personal coach of the categorized sportsperson.

Categorized athletes and trainers enjoy their rights in services and financial value based on points earned.

Points are determined based on the level of competition and medals that sportspeople will win, and 50% of their points will be awarded to the coaches. The financial value of the points shall be determined by a special decision of the Minister for each calendar year.

Minister Shala said that through this normative act, it is determined the fair treatment of athletes based on the work and results shown by athletes and their trainers. On the other hand, it will also be an incentive for athletes to reap the best results and the quality of sports to grow in general in our country.
