21.02.2017

Kosovo joins another international cultural mechanism. Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has received confirmation for membership in the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) which is a global network of arts councils and ministries of culture, with member organizations in over 70 countries. The main leading role in the process of membership has had the Task Force for Kosovo’s membership in institutions / International Cultural mechanisms.

Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, regards the membership to IFACCA as extremely important because it provides access to an international network which is dedicated to the improvement and development of cultural policies, the creation of arts funding, audience development and public access to the arts. Membership in question will contribute to the creation and development of better policies in the field of art and culture in Kosovo and in the promotion of cultural activities within the country and on the international stage. Membership will enable the exchange of experiences and enhancing cooperation with other member states.

IFACCA was established in 2000 and is headquartered in Sydney, Australia. The mission of this federation has to do with creating effective and long-term cooperation in the field of art and culture between the Member States with the aim of sharing knowledge and experience to develop and strengthen this area by strengthening partnership and promote dialogue. Among many activities organized by this federation, the so-called "small-scale" Summits are held, such as the last world summit organized in Valletta Malta (18 to 21 October 2016).

However, to bring to mind, the establishment of the Task Force is a proposal of MCYS which the government adopted on 1 June 2016 and consists of representatives of: the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports - Chairman; Presidency, Prime Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of European Integration, representatives of civil society and independent experts.
