Shala: Dersnik unveils the ancient Dardania

In the wake of visits to the archeological sites of Kosovo Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Shala, visited today Dersnik in the municipality of Klina, where he closely observed the excavations, findings and conservation that are being made in this important locality of Kosovo’s cultural heritage.

Also today, in Dersnik new archaeological findings have been made public, such as the remains of a residential palace, mosaics and stelaes, to what Minister Shala thanked the team working there, saying that this extraordinary work and findings in ancient Dardania are a great value for Kosovo's cultural heritage.

On this occasion, Minister Shala said that it is important that work in this locality be systematic in order to discover the whole area of this important archaeological site.

Also, Shala said that it is important that the excavations reach the first layer, which is the identity of Kosovo and our Dardania.

He further added that the Government of Kosovo is gradually making the heritage of Kosovo, namely the ancient Dardania and medieval, a national priority. This is evidenced with the interest and budget increase by 50% for this site, and added that Kosovo institutions are working that this interest in cultural heritage be rendered with greater and concrete budgetary financial assistance, with a view that this location in the future be transformed into an archaeological park.
