1325 seized materials by Task Force against Piracy

Task Force against Piracy and Forgery, respectively Market Inspection, supported by the Department for Economic Crime Investigation and Corruption of Kosovo Police and Kosovo Customs, in Gjakove, checked several subjects dealing with the production, vending and distribution of the materials which are protected by copyrights.

The control process and supervising the implementation of the Law for Copyrights was conducted by the Task Force, respectively by Market Inspection in Gjakova, on 23 June 2016, during which pirate material was seized, more precisely 446 pieces of books and 879 DVDs with music and film material were seized.

Market inspection has issued respective fines to the businesses found in the possession of pirate material without having any appropriate permission or agreement with the holder of the rights.

Task Force against piracy and forgery informs the holders of the rights and subjects dealing with production, distribution and vending of the materials which are protected with the authors right, that the latter is going to undertake continuous action at the market, by installing system for protecting intellectual creation and fight against piracy, as a daily mission of the state institutions.

Task Force is asking all the persons who claims that their rights are being violated, to address the competent bodies, the Market Inspection and Kosovo Police and the Task Force also reminds them about the legal measures for the violation of copyrights.

According to the Law on Copyright, if the legal person within the scope of its activity or conducting business with others, uses without authorization a Copyright work or subject matter of related rights, the latter shall be punished by a fine of two thousand (2000) up to ten thousand (10 000) Euro.

Under the Criminal Code, anyone who violates the copyright and related rights shall be punished by a fine and / or imprisonment from 3 months to 8 years. Items and equipment for the production of products and materials that infringe copyright and related rights are confiscated.
