MCYS and Municipality of Prishtina invest 3 million Euros in the Stadium of Prishtina

Today, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between MCYS and the Municipality of Prishtina, regarding the thorough renovation of the Prishtina City Stadium.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister Kujtim Shala, Mayor of Prishtina, Shpend Ahmeti, president of KFF, Fadil Vokrri and the deputy chairman of FC "Pristina", Ahmet Kurtolli.

The Memorandum envisages a significant investment in improving the infrastructure of the Prishtina Stadium. Project generally has a value of around 3 million Euros, 75% of which are MCYS investments, while 25% are of the Municipality of Prishtina and it is expected to be finalized in 2016.

Minister Shala considered this moment as a very important event for the sport of Kosovo, especially for the capital, as with the Municipality of Prishtina is significantly invested in improving the Prishtina Stadium infrastructure and achieving international standards. He also said that with this Memorandum of Understanding, are opened ways for other capital projects, which MCYS plans to realize together with the Municipality of Prishtina, such as the Opera and Ballet Theatre "Ibrahim Rugova" and the Olympic Pool.

Mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti said that this investment is necessary and helps significantly to improve the infrastructure at the Stadium of Prishtina, to be ready for international competition, especially now when Kosovo’s football is expected to be accepted into international organizations. Mayor Ahmeti while praising the cooperation with MCYS in the field of sports and culture, said that he will also cooperate in the future in important projects for the capital city.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Football Federation of Kosovo, Fadil Vokrri thanked Minister Shala and the Mayor Ahmeti for the cooperation and added that till now there was not made any investment like this in the city stadium, so this is a historical moment.
