Kosovo, global reference through Manifesta

Last night Pristina opened its doors for one of the biggest international contemporary art events. Manifesta 14 Prishtina began.

On the Palace of Youth and Sports, the event opened with the LYNX performance by the artist Astrit Ismaili and his performing group, continuing with the speeches of the heads of state of the Republic of Kosovo.

Present at this event were the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, the President of Albania, Ilir Meta, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, the Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, the director of Manifesta, Hedwig Fijen as well as many other personalities from politics and art.

In her introductory speech, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu said that Kosovo is a country of youth and our young artists made the country a global reference through this great cultural event.

Among the many present, Prime Minister Kurti said that he is delighted to be among them, at the opening of this great event for Kosovo, hoping to give them a great welcome.

"When Prishtina was chosen as the host city, after several months of intensive cooperation, I was amazed to see how Manifesta managed to reveal exactly this spirit of our people. Therefore, I am fully convinced today, that in the next 100 days, through the Manifesta, we will see Kosovo unfold in its best form and shining. I am sure that one way or another you will like my city, Prishtina. Therefore, prepare to be enchanted", said Prime Minister Kurti.

The evening continued with a special performance by the band Jungle by Night and then with the Prishtina All Stars.

During these 100 days, 102 participants from 30 countries of the world will participate in the 14th edition of the Manifesta biennial, and 45 new works created for the Manifesta will be presented.
