Government approves the Draft Law on Anti-Doping

The Government of Kosovo has unanimously voted the Draft Law on Anti-Doping in sports, thus enabling the creation of the legal infrastructure and conditions for the establishment and functioning for the first time of the Anti-Doping Agency in the Republic of Kosovo.

The draft law in question is a proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, proposed by the Deputy Minister Daulina Osmani at the Government meeting.

This normative act, which will be voted on in the Assembly of Kosovo, defines the basic rules for the organization, administration and functioning of the Anti-Doping Agency, as well as the basic rules and mechanisms that combat the use of doping substances and methods in sports to protect the health of athletes, to guarantee justice and equal opportunities in sports competitions in the Republic of Kosovo and to maintain the integrity of sports, in accordance with international standards and practices.

With the approval of this draft law, the field of sports is being supplemented with an international standard, such as the fight against doping as one of the biggest drawbacks in professional sports.
