Minister Dumoshi met with the National Council for the Prevention of Violence in Sport

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Vlora Dumoshi, held a meeting with the National Council for the Prevention and Sanctioning of Violence and Negative Phenomena in Sports, where she also received the quarterly report of the Council.

The Chairman of the Council, Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi, briefed Minister Dumoshi on the work of the Council, the meetings and activities undertaken to prevent and sanction violence in sports in our country.

"We have held numerous meetings with various groups of fans in the municipalities of Kosovo as well as informative meetings with judges and delegates of matches on the legal consequences when the law is violated to prevent and sanction violence and negative phenomena in sports events. We have managed to reconcile many groups with each other and we have informed them of the legal consequences for individuals and clubs in case of violence", said Kelmendi, informing the Minister about the information and awareness activities undertaken by the Council.

The meeting also discussed the phenomenon of match fixing where the Council has taken the necessary steps and has prevented this phenomenon in the sport of Kosovo. Also, the members of the Council requested from Minister Dumoshi that the MCYS approve the amendment of the regulation which will determine who will initiate criminal proceedings for acts of violence in sports.

For her part, Minister Dumoshi said that she highly appreciates the work of the Council as it has influenced the reduction of the level of violence in sports in the Republic of Kosovo through concrete effective actions.

"Sport is a success story in our country, due to the results and the representation of our country in the international arena, influencing the improvement of the image of our country. These successes in sports definitely reflect the aspect of proper organization and sports behavior of the fans in our sport", said the minister.

The minister also said that the regulation will soon be approved, which will specify the explanatory aspects to give the necessary powers for the procedures to be followed against those who show violence in sports.
