Minister Gashi: We will change the strategy for sport to increase participation

Within the activities of the European Sports Week, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, attended the opening ceremony of activities organized by the University Sports Federation of Kosovo.
On this occasion, Minister Gashi said it is a special pleasure to attend the opening cere-mony of the activities organized by the University Sports Federation of Kosovo, which is part of the European Sports Week.

The minister also said that "The University Sports Federation has played a key role in the implementation of our new sports strategy, which has a clear objective in the framework of other objectives, which is about mass sporting in Kosovo. From the statistics we have in Kosovo there is a low turnout of citizens in sports events and this makes us change the sports strategy in order to ensure a more active participation in sport. We need to increase the participation of our citizens in sporting events and to ensure direct participation in sport, "said Minister Gashi.

"In cooperation with the Kosovo University Sports Federation, I believe that we will increase the percentage of participants during 2019 in sports activities", added Minister Gashi.

Meanwhile, Croatian University Sports President Zrinko Custonja said "The power of sport is a universal language that connects everyone. Sport has the power to make people together and make the community the best. Kosovo has great athletes and the future of sport is bright but Ko-sovo needs to be more active. "

On the other hand, President of the Federation of Sports Universities of Albania, Besnik Veliu, said that the inclusion of students in sport is important. "The Eu-ropean Week of Endless Sports includes all ages. is a week of awareness raising that should involve all levels of society for a healthier life".
