Minister Gashi: Dokufest from a festival to a special institution of culture

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, hosted participants of the "Dokufest" Festival. During this organization, Minister Gashi said that the International Documentary and Short Film Festival DOKUFEST is the most important cultural event not only in Kosovo but also beyond.

"During the days of the festival, the city of Prizren is flooded with thousands of visitors from many countries around the world. Films are showed in several cinemas, including cinemas under the open sky. This festival is an event that has popularized Prizren and Kosovo all over the world, especially to artists and film industry", said Minister Gashi.

The Ministry of Culture has strongly supported the organization of this year's festival, which as a cultural event is promoting Kosovo everywhere, bringing many films and artists to beautiful city of Prizren said: Minister Gashi.

"The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, has always kept in mind the great results of our artists, creators and performers, especially filmmakers, who are promoting Kosovo in the best possible way around the world and one of them is the biggest cultural event, such as the DokuFest festival, which we can quite rightly call not only the festival but also a special institution of culture in Kosovo, said Minister Gashi.

"Always keeping in mind the results of this festival, as well as of our films around the world, two days ago, we decided to increase the budget of the Kosovo Cinema Center, which was around 750 thousand Euros, to increase it by 100 percent, with the sole purpose that all the people who work with films have the proper support of the state", said Gashi

Dokufest's artistic director, Veton Nurkollari, said: "I want to take this opportunity and thank the Minister for the extraordinary news for doubling the budget of the Kosovo Cinema Center, which translates more movies from Kosovo to Kosovo, more internationally acquainted with the film and I hope that the duplication will triple, quadruple and have as many successes as possible", Nurkollari added.
