Actors strike has been suspended, a working group for amending the regulation envisaging salary increase for the creators and performers
Jointly, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Association of National Theater Actors of Kosovo and National Theater will form a working group for amending the regulation on wages of actors. This is what Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi said at a press conference.
With this agreement between the parties, theater actors strike is suspended and by the beginning of 2018, actors as well as all the creators and performers in other cultural institutions will receive a salary increase, based on the new regulation that will be drafted by this working group.
"Let me thank the representatives of the Association for understanding and willingness to work together in the next three months to amend this document and since January the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, with The Government and the Assembly of Kosovo to make the decision to increase salaries for these categories and for this we have mad the agreement with the Union, too", said Minister Gashi.
"We are in the drafting phase of the 2018 budget and we will jointly sit down and see how the salary increase could affect the budget implications for all creators and inspectors who will be included in the regulation after its amendment, said among other things the minister.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Union, Ismet Azemi, said that after numerous meetings we have reached an agreement and with this step we have achieved an important goal in terms of our requirements and fulfilling the needs of our community. And with this we express our gratitude and recognition for the readiness of the minister and the MCYS to achieve the fulfillment of our commitments.
