21.09.2017

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, has visited today the Municipality of Vushtrri where he met with the Mayor Bajram Mulaku, with whom he talked about the cooperation between MCYS and the Municipality of Vushtrri in areas of common interest, especially about projects that have been implemented and projects that are planned for the future in the field of cultural heritage, culture, youth and sports.

Mulaku informed Minister Gashi about the stage where the investments of MCYS are currently being realized in Vushtrri as well as activities being organized in the field of youth, culture and sports in this municipality, along with the 36 clubs that Vushtrri has. He emphasized that Vushtrri is rich in sites and numerous monuments of cultural heritage. Also, he distinguished the festival "Poeteshat" with a long tradition, this year having its 35th edition, expected to be organized in October.

In the framework of capital investments, in the meeting was also discussed about concrete projects that are expected to be included in planning to be realized in the future such as: construction of the new Culture Center "Hasan Prishtina", rehabilitation of the city stadium, restoration of the Stone Bridge and an archeological research on the history of the bridge that will prove its authenticity.

In connection with the latter, Minister Gashi, along with mayor Mulaku, saw on the spot, excavation and discovery of new arches, made at the Stone Bridge in Vushtrri, which are being developed by the Institute for Protection of Monuments of Kosovo. It is estimated that the discovery of the two new arches in this site, refutes the earlier thesis that the bridge had nine arches.

Ardiana Qorraj, head of excavations, briefed him in detail on the restoration work being done in this important monument of cultural heritage, not only of Vushtrri but of Kosovo. Within the restoration of the bridge, as an emergency intervention, it has come to the discovery of new arches of the bridge, said Qorraj.

Minister Gashi said that Vushtrri will have the tremendous attention and support of MCYS in realizing the projects that are being implemented and those planned for the future. He said that it is necessary to intervene quickly in the restoration of the Stone Bridge because, besides being a monument in protection, it represents an identity and a history for Vushtrri and beyond.

Also, Gashi and Mulaku visited the Youth Center which is in the final stage of construction and which will be a space with modern standards for the youth of Vushtrri, a total investment of MCYS worth 275 thousand Euros and museum house of Mahmut Agë Gjinolli, in which the MCYS has invested 140 thousand Euros.
