Restoration of the Archaeological Museum in Prizren inaugurated

On the occasion of the conclusion of the restoration and conservation work of Archaeological Museum in Prizren, the inauguration of the finalization of this process took place yesterday, and the city was enriched with another building of cultural heritage. In this event there were present representatives of central and local institutions and American donors.

On behalf of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Mr. Kujtim Shala, the participants were greeted by the Secretary General, Mr. Veton Firzi, who stressed that the museum possesses special values, therefore it is ranked on the list of priorities of this ministry. He thanked all those who have contributed to implement this project, highlighting on this occasion the support from the USA Embassy.

Meanwhile Jeffrey Jamison, Head of the Office for Public Diplomacy in the U.S. Embassy in Prishtina, said that this project is a special achievement which represents a model of cooperation. He also expressed his desire that the citizens of Prizren and other visitors to experience the maximum of values of Archaeological Museum.

In the capacity of the host, Samir Hoxha, director of the Regional Center for Cultural Heritage, spoke about the history of this museum, stressing that this monument is of great importance not only for our country but also for the region. He pointed out that the implementation of this project is creating a new institutional approach toward cultural heritage of Kosovo.

Meanwhile, about the progress of the project development, the architect Iliriana Mejzini, explained that this was a voluminous project, however there was no need for expensive and dangerous reinforcements.

Meanwhile, Kujtim Gashi, Chairman of the Municipal Assembly of Prizren, said that this building will be part of the touristic catalogs and a tourist destination of many tourists the city has throughout the year.
