Minister Shala: House of Xhafer Deva can be restored

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Shala, was yesterday in Mitrovica to see closely the house of Xhafer Deva after the fire on Saturday that caught this object of the List of temporary protection of Cultural Heritage.

Minister was informed about the state of the object by the officials of the municipality of Mitrovica, and based on evaluation of the professional teams, it was estimated that the foundation of the house of Xhafer Deva is in stable condition and can be restored.

Minister, Kujtim Shala said that there were initially allocated 115 thousand Euros for the restoration of the building, but after fire damages caused in this object, this amount is insufficient to complete its complete restoration.

“The officials of the municipality informed us in detail regarding the damages caused. They are considered to be quite extensive, but it is very important that the static condition of the facility is good and the house can be restored, which is part of the Ministry program for restoration during this year", Minister Shala said.

During his stay in Mitrovica, minister Shala visited the Cultural Centre "Rexhep Mitrovica" to see the possibility for financing this object and "Minatori" sports hall, which is in its final stage of renovation.

Minister Shala has requested the works on this building to be completed as soon as possible and to put the sports hall in function and serve the needs of athletes of this city.
