Minister Shala met KBF executives following their admission in FIBA

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Kujtim Shala, hosted in a meeting the leaders of Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF), led by President Erolld Belegu, after admission of KBF into International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

Minister Shala initially congratulated the president Belegu and heads of KBF for admission in FIBA, but emphasized the increased flow of work and challenges in order to achieve results in standards and competitions.

Minister also stressed that he is aware the state support is also needed for sports in general, and in particular for basketball, having in consideration that it is one of the sports mostly practiced in our country and has a tradition as well. He said that capital investments are focused in improvement of the infrastructure and this will directly affect the increase of quality and interest in participating. He informed KBF executives for legal changes that have been made regarding the licensing and establishment of sports federations and associations and that after review of budget, the support for the sport will grow even more.

On the other hand, the president of KBF, Erolld Belegu, expressed his gratitude for the hospitality thatKosovo expressed in general for admission of KBF in FIBA and along with the joy for internationalization of Kosovar basketball, KBF considers this process as an obligation. He said that following the admission of KBF in FIBA, the need has increased for greater support, and he expects support from MCYS in this regard.

Among others, Belegu also informed the minister about the progress of the competitions and focus on working with younger age groups, where from today KBF has engaged an American coach to work with these age groups, work with basketball, and certification of trainers in long-term plans KBF has.
