Prime minister allocated the prize “Azem Shkreli”, to academician Ali Aliu

Academician and researcher, Ali Aliu, is laureate of the National Literature Prize for Life Work ‘Azem Shkreli’. In a solemn ceremony in the honor of Independence Day of the Republic of Kosovo, within the framework of that day, Prime minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, awarded the academic prize to Mr. Aliu in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, meanwhile, prizes were allocated also to laureates announced by the jury as winners of annual prizes on Literature for 2014.

The prize for the best poetry work was awarded to poet Nexhat Halimi, for his work “Kaq vetëm Fedorë” (That’s all Fedore), which was given to him by Adem Shkreli, brother of the poet who holds the main prize awarded by MCYS. On the other hand, the Annual Prize for the best book in literature criticism and essayistic awarded to researcher and writer Osman Gashi, for the work “Letërsia dhe miti” (Literature and Myth), which was given to Mr. Gashi by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Shala. The annual prize for the best translated book into the Albanian language, was awarded to French Language professor Masar Stavileci, for translating the work “Neveria” (Nausea) of the French author and philosopher Jean Paul Sartre, which was given to him by president of Science and Arts Academy of Kosovo, Hivzi Islami.

Laureate of prize “Azem Shkreli”, academician Ali Aliu, thanked MCYS for the award as well as for the participation of Prime minister Isa Mustafa in this manifestation and said that he felt happy for the estimation done to him by professionals themselves in the field of criticism.

“What makes me feel good is the name of the poet the prize was given. Azem Shkreli, as I said before and I say it again, for me is the greatest poet of Albanian language in the end of second half of XX century, and for anyone who has the destiny and honor to be graded under the cover of this name should be a special honor”, said academician Ali Aliu.

National Literature Prize for Life Work ‘Azem Shkreli’ reaches the financial value of five thousand Euros, whereas, each annual prize is two thousand and five hundred Euros and is allocated on basis of Regulation 3114/2009 on National Literature Prize for Life Work “Azem Shkreli” and Annual Prizes on Literature.

Minister Kujtim Shala, on basis of Regulation, made a decision to nominate the jury which evaluated the laureates for 2014. The professional jury had this composition: Anton Berishaj – President, Musa Ramadani, Nerimane Kamberi, Ismail Syla and Agron Y. Gashi – members.
