The construction of the non-formal education Center brings the American experience to the youth of Kosovo

Following the visit of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, in the USA, where he stayed in the American branch of the World Youth Organization YMCA, today at MCYS was signed a memorandum of cooperation for the financing of the project "Non-formal Youth Education Center".

The Memorandum was signed between MCYS and the NGO George Williams Youth Association in Kosovo (GWY), respectively Minister Kujtim Gashi and GWY Director Dorina Davies. This document foresees the investment of MCYS in the amount of 150 thousand Euros for the project "Non-formal education center for youth" located in the village of Pjetërshan in the Municipality of Gjakova, which will be realized in 2018.

Investing in a project of such provides a platform and physical infrastructure with very good conditions for developing youth and youth activities for the Republic of Kosovo including minority communities, people with disabilities, civil society organizations and state institutions.

Minister Kujtim Gashi said that through this memorandum are crated new spaces for the youth.

"I feel very happy that through today's signing, young people of Kosovo will have a wonderful center to be trained and educated in different fields. Cooperation with GWY, which is the representative of YMCA in Kosovo, is a good deed as it will further train young people, especially with the American experience of youth organization", said among others Minister Gashi.

"As a minister and MCYS we remain committed to supporting the most important and most sensitive social group of our country, youth. Year after year, we have increased the budget for youth, we have directly supported young people through subsidizing various projects in entrepreneurship, human security, health education, and informal education. We have invested and are planning to further invest, capital projects by building youth centers across different locations throughout Kosovo, as well as the memorandum we signed today", the minister added.

While, the head of the NGO "GWY", Dorina Davies, thanked the Minister for the readiness shown for the realization of the project. "The multifunctional center to be built is the first of its kind in the Balkans and Kosovo is lucky for this. Today is a historic day for young people. This center will have 90 beds, different training halls", said Davies, adding that Kosovo schools can also send their children to this center, which, in addition to informal education, is also aimed at finding various talented youngsters in art and sports.
