MCYS awards scholarships to the Olympic hopes totaling 18,000 Euros

In the framework of the direct support of Kosovo's talented people and hopes for sport, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, has signed the decisions for the ten scholarship beneficiaries for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Kosovo.

The decision to award these scholarships was made upon the proposal of the Kosovo Olympic Committee and the respective federations. Scholarships in the amount of € 150 per month over a period of one year from January 2018 will be awarded to athletes: Shpat Zeka (judo), Laura Fazliu (Judo), Drenis Mala (Archery), Kreshnik Mahmuti (Table tennis) , Leaton Osmanaj (Athletics), Faton Shurdhaj (Skiing), Erdonis Maliqi (Boxing), Shpejtim Bojku (Boxing), Drilon Syla (Wrestling) and Yll Cenaj (Karate).

Minister Gashi said that this financial support on a monthly basis for these young athletes is a proof that the Ministry supports the new talents in sport and considers it an incentive for athletes to prepare them even more in a more qualitative presentation for competitions and achieving results.

"With the utmost pleasure I signed today the decisions that open the path of receiving scholarships for the ten Olympic and Paralympic Hopes proposed by the KOC and the respective from federations. It is a direct financial support from the ministry for the athletes in question so they can prepare and advance in the sports they are dealing with. I think that with the provision of these scholarships these athletes will focus on the best presentation and achieve positive results during the competitions whether they are inside or outside Kosovo", said the minister.

This direct support for athletes who have achieved impressive results and have met the standards under Regulation no. 03/2013 on Awarding Scholarships for Olympic and Paralympic Hopes will be conducted on a monthly basis.
