Deputy Minister Hoti: In addition to RYCO, Traduki, in the Western Balkans media to be supported!

24.03.2017

During the meetings of RYCO of the third day of the conference, representatives of the six participating countries held meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Special representative for Eastern Europe, the EFTA countries and Turkey, which was also attended by the Ambassador of Italy and the representative of France.

Within the meeting with Ambassador Dr. Christian Hellbach at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Rexhep Hoti thanked Mr. Hellbach for the contribution of the German government and that of the French for RYCO, and thanked for the support of other countries, with special emphasis to the state of Austria and Italy.

With regard to the influence and importance of this project for the youth of the Republic of Kosovo, to be a common part of the European project in Western Balkans, Deputy Minister Hoti here also highlighted the difficulties faced by young people from Kosovo speaking of freedom of movement, whether within the countries participating in RYCO, or within the EU countries.

Taking as an example the good functioning of organizations with a European character, such as Traduki and recently RYCO, where political participation is combined successfully with civil society, youth and the creative part of society, such as creators and artists, Deputy Minsister Hoti put forward the idea of proposal that within this chain of success also be formed an exclusive media project, which would receive direct financial support for journalists in the first place.

Support of media, with special emphasis on the five Western Balkan countries such as Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia, would have a strategic lead, not only to media independence from brutal impacts in spaces of states in question, but also the fight against corruption and criminalization would take a very different perspective.
