MCYS establishes the Archaeological Park "Ulpiana"

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Shala, has signed the Regulation on the Establishment and Management of Archaeological Park "Ulpiana", through which has been established the Archaeological Park "Ulpiana" and defined the mechanisms for its management.

This is the first archaeological park ever established in Kosovo and, as such, represents an exceptional value to our country's cultural heritage.

Archaeological Park "Ulpiana" has a status of permanent protection and is one of the most important cultural heritage sites of Kosovo.

The regulation regulates the management issues of the park and many aspects related to it.

Minister Shala said that the Archaeological Park "Ulpiana" is established for the protection and preservation of archaeological heritage, and that it is in view of recognition, promotion and affirmation of the cultural heritage of Kosovo, from the earliest signs of our identity.

The archaeological Park "Ulpiana" lies in the municipality of Gracanica, cadastral zone Gracanica, and has a perimeter of 161.10 Ha and the surrounding area of 96.23 Ha.

This park is an integral part of the cultural heritage of Kosovo and it is under the direct administration of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports - Department of Cultural Heritage.

The establishment of the Archaeological Park "Ulpiana" aims to protect and preserve its archaeological heritage, as well as create better conditions of use for scientific, social, economic and touristic purposes.

The archaeological Park "Ulpiana" will be promoted in a solemn ceremony on October 27, 2016, beginning at 11:00 and will also be attended by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa.
