Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Rexhep Hoti, received in a meeting today Mr. Robin Budd, political secretary of the Great Britain Embassy in Kosovo.

Deputy Minister Hoti and Budd discussed the possibility of cooperation through concrete projects in culture, sports, heritage and other fields.

Hoti asked for a greater engagement of Britain in advancing comprehensive processes related to dozens of early Christian churches in Kosovo, which are a precious value of European heritage and civilization.

Hoti and Budd put special emphasis on the process of Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO, and agreed to coordinate the steps that Kosovo needs to take to become part of this important international organization.

Deputy Minister Hoti stressed the importance of Great Britain’s assistance for Kosovo in this process.

Mr. Budd expressed readiness for cooperation and support for joint initiatives and projects and pledged support for Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO.

The possibility of creating a working group consisting of MFA, MCYS and five European countries for the UNESCO issue was also discussed in the meeting.

Hoti and Budd also talked about the dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade. The Deputy Minister said that following the results of the referendum in Britain, it is necessary to pay more attention to dialogue.

Hoti expressed the opinion that in order to succeed in the future, dialogue must have the primary value of Great Britain, which has the magic for such successes. He pointed out that dialogue must have its value and extension in Washington, Brussels and London too.

The Deputy Minister said that guaranteeing the success reached so far was a contribution of all, led by the US and especially Great Britain.

Budd said that dialogue also helps the UNCESO issue, and talked about many possibilities of cooperation in sports, with youth and other aspects of multilateral interest for all communities living in Kosovo.
