Prime Minister Mustafa: Participation at RIO 2016, historic momentum for Kosovo (VIDEO)

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has organized today a special reception for sportsmen and members of the Olympic Committee, who are going to participate at Olympic Games, few hours before their departure to Rio in Brazil.

Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said that it is a special pleasure to, as the Prime Minister of the state, meet the sportsmen who are going to represent Kosovo and Olympic Games.

“Participation as state, with our state symbols, is historic momentum for us, and first of all having participation of our youth at Olympic Games. It is a special opportunity for us to represent our place there, to show our sport abilities, our culture, but also our place as new state”.

I highly appreciate the work of the Olympic Committee with all it has done to reach where we stand today, the work of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, which has also shown special attention for the development of the sport and support offered to the sport, be it from the legislative point of view, from the financial point of view, from the management point of view, constructing the sports infrastructure which is currently needed for all the areas, especially after our membership within UEFA and FIFA”, Prime Minister said.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Mustafa said that all in Kosovo have felt these successes, by expressing the devotion and greater attention of the government and the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo towards the sportsmen.

“Today, I would like to wish all the best and wish success, and to also express our readiness as government to maximally support you, by not interfering in the sports and organization of the sport; but our obligation is to, be it as infrastructure and legislation, have our youth express and realize their sport values and Olympic Committee, as highest body, is also going to implement the objectives which carries lot of rights which are also very positive”, Prime Minister Mustafa said.

President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Besim Hasani, said that sportsmen feel extremely good when Kosovo state institutions continuously support in strong manner.

“We also need to support activities in the future so we can easier fulfill the mission which has been given to Kosovo Olympic Committee, including aspirations of the sportsmen and trainers of Kosovo. We are going to depart to Rio after we have completed preparations from physical and technical aspects. This was a beneficial strategy, but I believe that these preparations were also psychological and spiritual as well, because entire Kosovo supports us, starting from you, who lead Government of Kosovo, but also Presidency, the Parliament. We feel good and our obligations towards these supports are increasing, and I am convinced that these preparations, which were done jointly, with your support and with the expertise of the trainers, with the strong willpower of the sportsmen, are going to help us to do our best by participating proudly at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016”, Hasani said.

Rita Zeqiri, who is going to represent Kosovo in Rio, in swimming, said that it is a pleasure and great pride to be part of the Olympic Games.

“Thus, I think that it is honor and pleasure for all of the sportsmen who are going to represent Kosovo, and we are hoping for successful debut. I hope that some of the sportsmen who possess Olympic rates, Nora and Majlinda, will receive medals, while I wish the rest of the sportsmen will proudly represent out state”, Zeqiri said.
