Prime Minister Isa Mustafa handed out the award to Majlinda Kelmendi

At an official ceremony held in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, which was attended by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Shala, were handed out state awards to the judoka Majlinda Kelmendi, gold medal winner in the European Judo Championship held in Russia, Nora Gjakova, bronze medal winner, as well as to the judokas’ coach, Driton Kuka.

Prime Minister Mustafa, present at this meeting, has highly appreciated the presentation of athletes from Kosovo in international competitions, and also pledged support for them. Furthermore, Prime Minister Mustafa said that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo would like to express deep gratitude to the judo team for the affirmation of Kosovo, the affirmation of Kosovo's youth abroad, and sports in Kosovo, adding that this is a very good way to represent Kosovo’s values.

State Awards to athletes who achieve top results, are given under the Regulation No. 15/2013 on State Awards to athletes who achieve top results in International competitions, and under this regulation, the winner of the Gold Medal is rewarded by the amount of 20 thousand Euros while the winner of the Bronze Medal is rewarded by 8 thousand Euros. Meanwhile, the coach is rewarded by 50 % of the total amount of the winners, in this case 10 thousand, respectively 4 thousand Euros.
